Reasons Why Growing Up In The 90's Was Awesome

Let's face it, the world is waaaay different place than it was in the 90's. Nowadays kids have cellphones, watch R-rated movies and are even having sex at the age of 13. It makes me think that growing up in the 90's was definitely all that and a bag of chips! Here are some reasons why growing up in the 90's was the BEST time in history!

The slang: in the 90's the slang was definitely pretty fun. Do any of these words ring a bell? "All that", "As if!", "Bangin'", "Beeotch", "Bling-Bling", "The Bomb", "Dude", "Dope" "Mofo", "Phat" and last but not least "Psyche".

The music: Jessica Simpson, Biggie Smalls, Nirvana, No Doubt, N'SYNC, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Christina Aguilera, Mandy Moore, Shania Twain. Oh and who could forget the song birds Mariah, Whitney and Celine Dion. No matter what  genre, music was just downright amazing, if not even a little embarrassing at times.

The sports: the 90's brings to mind one name " Michael Jordan". He was the absolute star of the 90's in terms of sports. Tiger Woods was a close second and then there was of course Mark McGquire, Sammy Sosa and Wayne Gretsky (I went to highschool with his kid BTW). This was a time of real men who were sports heroes and who were able to become famous off their numbers, not by committing crimes or beating up their girlfriends on elevator cameras.

The toys: Do you remember Lisa Frank EVERYTHING?! Slap bracelets with weird little cartoons on them? Or what about yo-yo's! Beanie-Babies were by far a thing of the 90's with fanatics buying every little furry bean-stuffed animal they could get their hands on.

And last but not least, growing up in the 90's! Do you remember when kids actually played outside with all of the other neighborhood kids; rode bikes, played baseball and traded pokemon cards? Ahh it was the world before everyone was glued to their cell-phones and before kids had to grow up too fast. Hopefully someday these days will make a comeback :)
